The History of 'More Bang For Your Buck' as told by Phil

8 PM, I just sat down at my dormroom desk to get started on a paper due the next day when my phone rang.

Jeremy: "Hey dude, we're coming to pick you up to record in Anneville."
Phil: "What? I have homework and it's almost nine o'clock?!"
Jeremy: "Yeah man, I know it's last minute but the recording is free and Scott's doing it in a sick studio."
Phil: "Alright, I guess we can do that."

I grabbed my books and some paper and hopped in the van.

We showed up at Lebanon Valley College to record with Jeremy's hometown friend. I was told upon arrival that we were recording the new unnamed song - one of about three songs that I hadn't learned or had any musical influence on yet. Honestly, I was excited, but a little stressed and frustrated.

After Tyler laid down drums and Macon and Jeremy spent hours on guitar, it was my turn (11:30 PM). Already, Scott rewrote about half of the riffs and contributed many ideas that helped reshape the song that I didn't know otherwise. I felt the song was solid, but kind of wussy-wounding for our style. I won't lie, I recorded some loose bass tracks at first because I didn't know half the riffs. After ten or fifteen minutes, I had recorded all the parts without really knowing the song in full. It was kind of funny after the schoolwork and long hours of getting guitar recorded.

Anyway, since it was so late, Sean and Andy would have to do their thing a little later.

After a few days, Scott sent us the final mix. We loved it. It was a raw song pretty much written in the studio on the spot.

In my opinion, this song wasn't us, but I loved it none the less. It was like none of our other songs, but for once, I was very proud about something I contributed to in the artistic world. It was bitter sweet, but mostly sweet.

There's no lessen behind this; I just wanted to document this song from my perspective.
